Milwaukie Pollinator Park Dedication Opens a Greener Front Porch |
A free October 18 gathering celebrates native plants, neighborhood shade, and Milwaukie’s growing Pollinator Pathway |

Milwaukie’s newest pocket of public green space gets its official welcome Sunday, October 18, with a free Front Porch Park and Pollinator Garden Habitat Dedication.
The kid-friendly gathering runs from 2 to 5 p.m. outside SaunaGlo at 1915 SE Jefferson Street.
Visitors can see how native plants, small-scale habitat improvements, and a more welcoming pedestrian space can fit into one downtown property.
The SaunaGlo event page describes the project as both an urban re-greening effort and an extension of the Milwaukie Main Street Pollinator Pathway.
That pathway connects habitat between Johnson Creek and Kellogg Creek, giving bees, butterflies, and other pollinators more places to feed and rest.
The dedication is designed as a community gathering, not a formal ribbon-cutting spectators have to watch from a distance.
Representatives connected with native plants, gardening, children’s outdoor spaces, and local civic groups are expected to take part.
SaunaGlo plans to keep its building open so guests can warm up, use the restrooms, and look at the indoor plant garden.
A separate mini-habitat container workshop from Poppy and Finch is listed during the celebration for people who want a hands-on project.
Admission to the dedication is free, although an RSVP is requested rather than required.
Families can treat the afternoon as an easy drop-in outing and use the garden to talk with children about native plants and pesticide-free gardening.
The regional event listing also recommends confirming details with the host before traveling.
Because the celebration is partly outdoors, bring a light rain layer and shoes suitable for walking around planted areas.
This is a promising chance to see how one modest corner can make downtown Milwaukie cooler, greener, and more useful for both people and pollinators. |
